Fishtail & Feathers

On most days, I’m that girl sporting a side braid. Usually on the days where I lay in bed until the last possible minute and then have to rush off to school (okay, this actually happens everyday.. ) It wasn’t until recently that I discovered the fishtail braid.  And once I saw it, I had to learn how to do it on my own.  I tried and tried but somehow always ended up with one half braid and one half mess. But finally I’ve mastered the technique. It’s actually SO super easy, even easier than a regular braid.  Looks messy, but I love that look.  After a braid I always pull down some loose strands to frame the face.  Such a cute look!

And bonus!  Snagged these super cute feather earrings at Urban Outfitters last week and decided to throw them on for the photo.  Thought they paired well with the fishtail.

Bedroom Revamp

Ah!  It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted last.  But I can’t think of any better time to sit down to write than on this snowy morning as I’m snuggled in bed. What I’ve been up to lately is redecorating my bedroom.  I have a thing for interior decorating and way too often find myself shopping at antique stores and vintage boutiques for little accessories to add the perfect touches to my room.

The theme I’m going for is a vintage, romantic, French inspired style, set in a soft, misty, blue and rustic cream color palette.  I call it ‘Parisian Chic’.  I’m basing it around this beautiful piece of artwork I got a while ago at HomeGoods.

I actually found this image of a bedroom that I absolutely love, which is very reminiscent on the look I’m going for.  It’s so simple and refreshing, and just looks like the best place to retreat to after a long day.  I love the gold painted letters above the bed, and I definitely plan to distress some shelves of my own just like that one.  So eager to get my room done already!

Favorite Accessory

For my first actual post, I wanted to choose a topic that would be interesting among a varying crowd.  Fashion was the most obvious choice.  I feel like the world of fashion is such a creative outlet where anyone can express themselves and really define who they are by what they're wearing, how they wear it, and by just creating their own unique style.

Fashion isn't just defined by the clothes you wear; it's also how you accessorize and stylize from head to toe.  Naturally, accessories are the best part of picking a look for the day, whether it be with jewelry, a scarf, or the perfect pair of shoes.

A current accessory trend that I'm currently getting into is luxury watches.  A watch can be such a fun and glamorous statement piece to add to any look.  Personally, I've never really been the type to wear a watch, but recently I've found myself drooling over them at Bloomie's.  This is the one I've had my eye on lately. Isn't it gorg?  I asked Santa to bring it to me for Christmas.  Hope he got my wish list!

Hi to all who are reading!  I've been wanting to start a blog for a while, but have never found sufficient time to dedicate to it.  But now I'm officially making time for it no matter what.  Feedback from anyone is welcome and definitely encouraged.  Can't wait to get started :)
