Hello my lovelies! I've been so bad about making time to write lately. Even though I'm on summer break from school, I've been at work all day every day since I finished school last Friday. {For those who don't know, I spend my days dwelling in the lovely Anthropologie}. Come visit!
Anyway, I'm going to vent here today. Something that really bugs me is waiting for teachers to post final grades. It's nearly two weeks that school's been out and I've received a grade in just one class out of the nine that I took this semester. Beyond frustrating! We get punished for missing a deadline, but they can take their sweet little time to post grades?! Really irritating, and my patience is beginning to slip.

Finding myself right in the middle of finals week. Keeping it under control though and somehow managing to stay calm and finish all my projects and get my studying done right on schedule. Just two more days! Wish me luck :)

Monday Mantra: Make Time For Yourself
Monday, May 7, 2012
It's the home stretch of the school year, and you might be getting bogged down with finals. And if you're not in school, you might just have a crazy schedule or a hectic life. Being in any of these situations, it's so easy to get caught up in the commotion and stress of crazy days. But an important thing to remember is to take time for yourself! Set some time aside to take little breaks in between whatever you're doing; watch an episode of your favorite show, go outside on a little walk, or just lounge around and relax for a bit..anything just to take your mind away from whatever craziness is going on. Treat yourself, you deserve it!

Chevron Love
Saturday, May 5, 2012
What's known to some as the newly popular zig-zaggy pattern is known to the fashion savvy as Chevron! Chevron print has been popping up everywhere this season on anything and everything. I'm not usually the type to don patterns like stripes or polka dots, but this print is something that I actually find myself loving! I recently wore a chiffon button down with hot pink & navy chevron print, and I got so many compliments! Love love loving this trend :) Here are some of my favorite things that scream chevron:
Favorite Chevron Loungespace {Pillows & Decór}
Favorite Chevron Manicure {Tangerine Tango}
Favorite Chevron Dessert {Cookies}
Favorite Chevron Apparel {Dress}
Favorite Chevron Accessory {Rings}
Piñata Cookies
Wednesday, May 2, 2012
With Cinco de Mayo coming up in just a few days, it's no surprise that your friends might be making plans for a fun night out of dinner and drinks to celebrate this Americanized Mexican holiday.
Anyway, I was browsing Pinterest the other day and came across this recipe for these fun little Piñata cookies in honor of Cinco de Mayo! I can't say that I haven't had my share of fun as a kid, swinging at a giant piñata and watching candy fall to the ground, followed by a mad dash against my friends to get the best treats. But I never thought of breaking open a cookie and finding a surprise like this!
The recipe does require alot of work, but doesn't look too hard at all. But given that I don't have a donkey shaped cookie cutter and the fact that I don't like sugar cookies or M&M's, I won't actually be making these. But I thought it'd be a fun recipe to share, in case you'd prefer a more laid back way to celebrate the holiday. And if you're just not a baker, I'm sure you'll at least enjoy looking at the fun pictures :) Enjoy!

Monday Mantra: Love Your Imperfections
Monday, April 30, 2012
I had some time to kill before work yesterday so I stopped into Barnes & Noble and found myself wandering towards the self help section. Among the many "how to quit smoking" and "why you are the way you are" books, I noticed one called "Beautiful You". I didn't read any of it but it did catch my attention, as I never would have even thought that people would consult a book to cope with self-esteem issues.
It's really disheartening how so many people have such a negative self image these days. It reminds me of a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that my friend Michelle once told me and has always stuck:
"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent".
Why should anyone's perception of you be any reason to feel pity on yourself? It shouldn't. Everyone has something about themselves they wish they could change. But the truth is, these little imperfections are what make you different. From the big ears that your mom promised you'd grow into, to the freckles on your cheeks that your grandma proclaimed "give you character". I know it's cliché and it's not what you want to hear, but I'm not going to tell you that you can somehow magically change the way you look. The only thing to do is to love your imperfections & embrace your flaws. Because what may seem like the worst quality to you, just might be what will make somebody fall head over heels. Happy Monday :)
